About the Teacher
THE CARE AND EXPERTISE TO HELP STUDENTS AT ANY LEVEL

BACKGROUND
I hold a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin. I carried out organic chemistry research as both an undergraduate and graduate student, and my research has been published in several journals including The Journal of the American Chemical Society. I was involved in the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of research, patents, and medical publications.
I performed research at Hoffman La-Roche in New Jersey and wrote the scientific material of drug patents at Theravance in San Francisco. I also served as the manager of medical publications at Ogilvy Healthworld Communications in New York.
I have also worked as a copywriter and technical editor, and my skills are useful in helping students write and edit papers for any class subject or topic.
Throughout my corporate career, I have
had to communicate complicated scientific concepts in an understandable manner which has, thus far, contributed to my success as a teacher.

TEACHING EXPERTISE

CREDENTIALS
I have over 20 years of experience in science having worked both in the pharmaceutical industry and teaching chemistry at the university and secondary school levels.
I have taught the levels of Regular, Honors, and Advanced Placement Chemistry for 17 years with high accolades from students, parents, and faculty. It is a wonderful to be able to connect with the students while challenging them with a college preparatory curriculum. I have also taught at the university level for 3 years and have tutored college students statewide.
I strive to always find new ways and tools to explain topics in an understandable way. I co-presented “Using Technology to Create Super Students” at the annual AISF Teaching & School Leadership Conference where I discussed how to use technology in the classroom to explain science in a clear and relevant manner. I also regularly take continuing education classes and participate in workshops that include curriculum updates to the AP Chemistry Exam, instructional strategies, and reading and writing in content area.
